What is Provably Fair? How to verify game results yourself

Driplay 1 min read

A common question about online mini games is: "How do I know the result isn't rigged?" The answer is Provably Fair – a system that lets you verify every single round yourself.

The three ingredients of a result

  • Server seed: a secret string created by the system. Before you play, you can see its SHA-256 hash.
  • Client seed: your own string, which you can set yourself.
  • Nonce: the number of the bet, which goes up by 1 after every round.

The result is the HMAC-SHA256 of the server seed and "client seed:nonce". Because the hash is published in advance, the system cannot change the server seed after you bet.

Checking a Dice round

  1. On the Dice page, press Change seed to reveal the current server seed.
  2. Compare the SHA-256 of that server seed with the hash you saw before.
  3. Recalculate the result as described on the Provably Fair page and compare it with your bet history.

What does 99% RTP mean?

RTP (Return to Player) is the theoretical payback rate. With 99% RTP, the Dice payout multiplier is 99% divided by the win chance you choose. For example, a 49.5% win chance pays 2.00×.
