How to play Video Poker

Jacks or Better video poker with one 52-card deck. Each hand deals 5 cards; hold as many as you like and replace the rest exactly once. The final hand pays: Jacks or Better returns the bet (1×), two pairs 2×, three of a kind 3×, straight 4×, flush 5×, full house 6×, four of a kind 25×, straight flush 50×, Royal Flush 800×. With perfect holds (turn on the hint) the RTP is about 95%. The first 10 cards of the deck are shuffled from the server seed, client seed and nonce before the deal: cards 1–5 are dealt, cards 6–10 replace the discarded cards in order, left to right.

Which cards should I hold?

Turn on the hold hint: the page works out the expected return of all 32 holds over every possible draw and marks the best one. Rules of thumb: always keep a paying hand (unless one card short of a Royal Flush), keep pairs, keep 4 to a flush or 4 in a row, keep J, Q, K and A.

What is the RTP?

About 95% with perfect holds (the 6/5 Jacks or Better table: full house 6×, flush 5×). Weaker holds return less.

Are the replacement cards picked after I hold?

No. The first 10 cards of the deck are shuffled from the server seed, client seed and nonce at the deal; the replacements are cards 6–10 in order, so your holds cannot change which cards come.
